Esker Point Beach

Esker Point Beach offers a man-made beach that is about 600 feet long. Facilities include saltwater swimming, picnicking under a grove of shade trees, and restrooms. Plenty of free parking. Pets are allowed when beach is open as long as owners remain in control of them, but pets are not allowed during concerts or other events held at the beach.

Eastern Point Beach

A small family-oriented beach at the mouth of the Thames River. The site offers showers, picnic tables, concession stand and playground. Shallow water depths along the beach and seasonal supervised swimming also make the beach a favorite for families. Seasonal parking stickers are available for purchase on an annual basis for both residents and non-residents. A daily parking fee is also an option. Parts of the site offering views of the water are wheelchair accessible.

Island Beach

Island Beach is situated in Long Island Sound about two miles south of Greenwich Harbor. During the summer months, there is a ferry service from the landing at Roger Sherman Park (off Arch St.). Parking is available across Arch Street. The ferry runs from the second Saturday in June through mid-September. The island boasts almost 1,000 feet of fine sandy beach on its northern and eastern perimeters There are designated swimming and boating areas and a lifeguard. There are picnic tables, grills, snack bar, covered shelters, dressing rooms and restrooms. Park passes required.

Great Captain's Island

The island has been preserved in its natural state with many different speciies of birds. Visible across the lagoon in June and July are large colonies of nesting egrets and herons. Near the handsome lighthouse, you can spot an osprey nesting platform. Don't miss the sight of the giant boulders below the lighthouse, a highly visable reminder of the glacier's power to move and shape the Connecticut shoreline. Byram Shore Park

For those bathers who prefer fresh water, the park has the only public pool in town, located at the water's edge. Bathhouses available for those using both beach and pool. For sports enthusiasts, the park has lighted tennis courts as well as a lighted ball field. Passes required from May 1 through October 31. During November 1 through April 30, no fees will be charged.
