Pequot Library is a cultural beacon, educating and enriching people of all ages through literature, music, art, science, and the humanities for over 125 years. Your participation and support is essential to our mission. We offer high-quality programs with world-class musicians, showcase accomplished artists, and use current circulating 125,000 books plus our Special Collections of 30,000 rare books to develop dynamic, cross-disciplinary programming.
Many items in our prized Special Collections are manuscripts and books from the 15th through 20th centuries, centennial, and beyond. We hope you’ll visit us soon to explore our exciting exhibitions and programs.
Founded in 1889, the library was designed by architect Robert H. Robertson, erected in 1893, and now is on the National Register of Historic Places. Located on three acres, the library has historic stacks with Tiffany windows, a historically-restored and award winning Reading Room, and a stunning concert hall with near perfect acoustics.
