Penfield Beach

This 3.5 acre beachfront property is a great place to swim and sun along Long Island Sound, offering a long stretch of sandy beach adjacent to Rickards Beach. Lake Mohegan

The man-made fresh water lake is open to swimmers in a designated area with lifeguards. The large beach is sandy and sunny. There's little natural shade. In addition to swimming, the lake has a sprinkler park for children, playgound, snack bar, picnic shelter and rest room facilities. Parking is free, but a fee is charged at the gate to enter the swimming area from Memorial Day (Saturday) to Labor Day.

Crystal Lake

Artifacts found at the north end of the lake indicate that the Nipmuc Indians resided here and called the lake Wabbaquasset, meaning "place where cattails grow." The lake was originally called Square Pond or Ruby Lake after the garnets found in the surrounding hills. In 1889, the name was changed to Crystal Lake. Today the entire shore is lined by residential property with only one public beach - Sandy Beach, located at the south end of the lake. Niantic Bay Beach

The beach is a roughly half mile long beach with the Niantic Bay Boardwalk going along the back edge. It is lifeguarded during the beach season, has two volleyball courts, and a fishing jetty. The beach is a popular spot for swimming, sunbathing and watching sunsets. A beach pass is required to access the beach between Memorial Day and Labor Day. The beach is located in the village of Niantic within the Town of East Lyme. East Haven Town Beach

Sandy beach located on Long Island Sound, with a picnic area. bocci ball and beach volleyball courts. There are showers and pavilion. There is a parking fee for non-residents.

Pear Tree Point Beach Park

This eight-acre beach--actually two great beaches--is loaded with amenities including handicap-accessible picnic area with picnic tables and grills, bath house, boat launch ramp, gazebo and a concession stand. Candlewood Lake Town Park
