In July of 2016, Tracey and Brian purchased a weekend home in Sharon, Connecticut. Eight months later, Brian saw an ad for a commercial space. Having dreamt of opening a wine bar in Manhattan and realizing how cost-prohibitive that was, he mulled over turning a doctor’s office into a local wine bar in a town that didn’t have many choices in entertainment. The Porchlight was born and opened in September of 2017. But a much more well-known hospitality group already had that name. So by 2018, The Porchlight became a wine and cocktail bar called The Edward, Tracey’s father and grandfather’s name as well as Brian’s middle name and the name of his grandfather, Edward Wallace Verrall (called Wally, because his Dad was Edward). Wally met a great kid named Dave at a restaurant called The White Cannon and liked him so much that he introduced him to his daughter, Patsy (a nickname she hated). Wally, Dave, and Pat are all gone now but their legacy lives on in our hearts and in the community that we’ve created here in Sharon…at The Edward.
