The Connecticut Shoreline Bike & Boat Tour takes you from the historic Guilford Green to the waterside village of Stony Creek. The ride goes past seaside views, sea estuaries, and tidal marshes, and includes a 45-minute boat tour of the historic Thimble Islands. The tour is by reservation only. After the ride, picnic on the Guilford Green, hit the beach at nearby Hammonasett, visit Bishops' Orchards or dine at one of several great lunch spots in the area.
The "New York Cycling Connection" uses the Metro North railroad which allows bicycles on their trains during weekend hours. Take the 8:07 a.m. from Grand Central Station and meet at 9:30 a.m. for the "25 Miler" out of charming Westport along meandering country roads, down to graceful Southport harbor and inland to the farms of Redding and Easton. Reservations required. Westport is renowned for great restaurants, shops and galleries for a full day experience. Bikes can be safely locked away at the Westport Train Station.
