Windsor Locks Canal State Park

The 4.5 mile bicycle and pedestrian trail follows the historic towpath of the 170 (plus) year old historic waterway, and offers a scenic vista of both the Connecticut River and the old canal. A trailhead park, including wayfinding and historic signs, welcome you on the south end of the trail at 25 Canal Bank, north of the Montgomery Mill. Chatfield Hollow State Park

Chatfield Hollow Brook flows between two high ridges covered with oak, beech, and hickory. Native Americans frequented the valley to hunt, fish, and hold tribal gatherings amid the rock recesses and overhangs. Early settlers used the stream to power a grist mill, and there is evidence that an iron smelting furnace was also in operation at one time. (Rte. 83) in Ellington, and at 244 Hartford Tpke. (Rte. 30) in Tolland.
