Lake Mohegan

The man-made fresh water lake is open to swimmers in a designated area with lifeguards. The large beach is sandy and sunny. There's little natural shade. In addition to swimming, the lake has a sprinkler park for children, playgound, snack bar, picnic shelter and rest room facilities. Parking is free, but a fee is charged at the gate to enter the swimming area from Memorial Day (Saturday) to Labor Day.

Jennings Beach

Offers visitors a large sandy beach with great views of Long Island Sound with an access pier, food concession, picnic area, rest rooms (seasonal).

Crystal Lake

Artifacts found at the north end of the lake indicate that the Nipmuc Indians resided here and called the lake Wabbaquasset, meaning "place where cattails grow." The lake was originally called Square Pond or Ruby Lake after the garnets found in the surrounding hills. In 1889, the name was changed to Crystal Lake. Today the entire shore is lined by residential property with only one public beach - Sandy Beach, located at the south end of the lake. Niantic Bay Beach

The beach is a roughly half mile long beach with the Niantic Bay Boardwalk going along the back edge. It is lifeguarded during the beach season, has two volleyball courts, and a fishing jetty. The beach is a popular spot for swimming, sunbathing and watching sunsets. A beach pass is required to access the beach between Memorial Day and Labor Day. East Haven Town Beach

Sandy beach located on Long Island Sound, with a picnic area. bocci ball and beach volleyball courts. There are showers and pavilion. There is a parking fee for non-residents.

Pear Tree Point Beach Park

This eight-acre beach--actually two great beaches--is loaded with amenities including handicap-accessible picnic area with picnic tables and grills, bath house, boat launch ramp, gazebo and a concession stand. Weed Beach

22 acre park with waterfront beach, picnic area, bathhouse, concession stand, children's play areas, tennis courts, paddle tennis courts, a windsurfing area, car-top boat launch, rest rooms. Passes available for non-residents. No Dogs Allowed.

Candlewood Lake Town Park

This 11-acre park has a picture-postcard beachfront for swimming and relaxing, as well as benches, playground, picnic tables and a concession stand. There is also a boat dock adjacent to the park. Non-residents can obtain daily passes. Rates for Non-residents: Adult Daily- $19 Children Daily- $13

Wangumbaug Lake

Wangumbaug Lake, also known as Coventry Lake is body of water that graces the heart of Coventry. Patriots Park is 17.5 acres in size and links directly to the Millbrook Greenway for a short walk to historical Coventry village, shops and dining. It also borders the state boat launch and is across the street from Patriots Park Forest Trail, a short loop trail with environmental interpretation. The park was orginally a Salvation Army Camp, purchased by the town in the late 1970s.
