Reel Cast Charters is a Connecticut-based fishing guide service specializing in the waters of Long Island Sound and Block Island Sound. The guide service is unique in the fact that we do much of our fishing in shallow water with light tackle. Reel Cast Charters has carved a niche in northeast sport fishing, providing an experience to anglers like no other by doing most of our fishing under the cover of darkness for trophy-sized striped bass with spinning gear. There is no trolling, no deep water and no oversized conventional reels the clients cast live baits and artificial lures tight to rocky shorelines where big fish hunt after dark.

At times, this can be a challenging way to catch fish and it will test your angling ability. However, all Reel Cast clients will be educated on every outing and walk away with knowledge that can be applied on future angling adventures.  We also strongly encourage catch and release fishing for the future of the sport, but will be happy to fillet your limit if you wish to keep it for table fare. 

Reel Cast Charters’ annual schedule begins with spring fishing trips on the Housatonic and Connecticut Rivers for holdover and migrating striped bass. Throughout the summer, the trips are focused on targeting resident stripers that set up shop along the rocky shores of eastern Long Island Sound and Block Island. In the fall, we switch gears to chase bonito and false albacore with light spinning and fly rods for the ultimate adrenaline rush.  We also provide inshore bottom fishing trips throughout the fall for tautog a.k.a. blackfish. Blackfish are spirited fighters and also make for excellent eating.

The  boat is kept on a trailer and launch closets to where the best fishing is for that day in order to minimize driving time and maximize fishing time and comfort. We avoid fishing in rough and uncomfortable waters!  We depart from the following locations, Old Saybrook, Niantic, Groton, Stonington, Milford and Stratford.
