Essex Historical Society (EHS) is a volunteer and member supported non-profit proudly engaging and inspiring the community through the local history of Centerbrook, Essex, and Ivoryton for over seventy years! Stewarding more than 7,000 collections objects at Hills Academy—an 1832 brick schoolhouse—and hosting tours, school groups, public art, and special programs at Pratt House—a 1732 home of the local blacksmithing family—EHS stands as a pillar of the community and a trusted resource for all things Essex history! EHS keeps the calendar packed year-round with engaging walking tours, hands-on history programs in the local elementary school, community events, lectures, Connecticut History book club, house tours and more!

To catch an upcoming event, dive into the collections, get involved, make a donation, or learn more about the rich history of Essex’s three villages, visit essexhistory.org.
