Throughout Connecticut's history, wives, mothers and daughters maintained homes and businesses, cared for children, provided family income, initiated social reform, inspired creative endeavors, achieved artistic brilliance and sometimes became heroines. Some of these women's contribution are an invaluable part of our history that has too often been overlooked. Take a journey on the Women's Heritage Trail which consists of 14 historic sites throughout the statre. Learn about Prudance Crandall, our state's official heroine; author Harriet Beecher Stowe; and Theodate Pope Riddle, who was an important and influential architect, a field long dominated by men.
