Welcome to the Pizza Capital of the U.S.

It’s official. Once again, Connecticut is home to the nation’s best pizza, according to Pizza Today. Modern Apizza — if you’re not familiar, it’s pronounced ah-beetz — was named the best pizzeria in the U.S., joining Frank Pepe’s and their long-time New Haven neighbor, Sally’s, by racking up a best in class national accolade.

Not only does New Haven deserve its name as the Pizza Capital of the U.S. (eat your heart out New York and New Jersey), but the rest of the state is a true pizza Mecca as well with six other spots ranked in the top 50 of the 101 Best Pizzas in America!
 

New Haven Favorites

New Haven’s Frank Pepe’s at #1, and its long-time neighbor Sally’s at #9, lead the list of Connecticut pizzas rated among the top in the country.

Winners were chosen by survey of the readers of the Daily Meal, a popular food blog among those in the know. Here are how some of our other CT Pizza Trail favorites fared:
