Tarrywile Park and Mansion, a 722 acre municipal park is open to all the residents of the Greater Danbury area community and beyond.The Park, once an active dairy farm and fruit orchard is now home to 21 miles of hiking trails, 2 ponds, a lake and several picnic areas. In addition to the vast acreage Tarrywile is home to one of Connecticut's beautifully preserved historical landmarks; Tarrywile Mansion. The Mansion, built in 1897 is listed on the National Historical Society's registry as a prime example of Shingle-style architecture.
Come spend the day soaking up the beauty that is Tarrywile, hike one or more of our blazed trails, go fishing in Parks Pond, bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in our apple orchard or along one of the many areas set up for picnics. There are certain areas marked as handicap accessible so everyone can enjoy our beauty. You can bring the kids check out our Children's Garden where you may spot some Koi fish hiding amongst the reeds or hear the croak of large bullfrogs. Make sure you keep your eyes open, you never know when our resident Troll will pop out of his Troll house.
Our beautiful flower gardens will attract the gardener in your family, our grape arbor and gazebo will bring out the photographer in you and our manicured lawns are perfect for that lazy day game of Frisbee. If you are a Ornithologist you will love our protected bird nesting areas and the many different species that can be found making Tarrywile their home.
