Ridgefield was designated the first “Cultural District” in the State of Connecticut in April 2021 due to its multitude of nonprofit and for-profit cultural facilities, activities, and assets in its expansive downtown area. This unique and welcoming town has a plethora of activities and sights that fill an entire weekend. The walkable downtown area includes numerous live theaters, both contemporary and historical museums, award-winning restaurants, bed and breakfast establishments, art galleries, shops, a first-run movie theater providing integrated employment to people with disabilities, a park with an accessible playground, formal gardens, free concerts, and more.
