The Essex Art Association, housed in a charming historic building, has served the shoreline area as a nonprofit seasonal art gallery for seventy-five years. It was the first local art association to embrace all styles of art, from traditional to cutting edge. The excellence and variety of shows has made the EAA gallery an outstanding exhibition venue showcasing quality art at reasonable prices.

Open April through September, a typical season at the gallery offers five themed exhibitions featuring talented artists from across Connecticut, and one serving community high school students. Fine art works in a variety of media including painting, photography and sculpture are available for perusal and purchase. In addition, solo exhibitions highlight some of the most interesting and accomplished artists who were show winners during the previous year. The gallery is located just steps away from the village of Essex’s picturesque Main Street where clothing and gift shops, restaurants, an historic inn and the Connecticut River Museum can be found.
