Another Second Penny Inn

It is said, "If you have two pennies with the first buy bread and with the second buy hyacinths for your soul." Another Second Penny Inn, a 1710 Colonial home, offers three large guest rooms, private jetted baths, fireplaces, and a five-course breakfast. Set amid almost five acres of gardens, fields and forest, Another Second Penny Inn is within three miles of downtown Mystic, historic Stonington Borough, the Mystic Aquarium, and Mystic Seaport. Perfect for quiet, romantic walks or reading in secluded hideaway; the ambiance of a home that has for three centuries provided shelter and respite welcomes you.

Guest rooms are thoughtfully appointed including such amenities as fluffy bathrobes, hair dryers, custom toiletries, individual refrigerators (stocked with bottled water and soda), irons and ironing boards, wireless high speed internet access, cable TV/VCR and clock radios. The Denison Room is situated on the east side of the house and overlooks the barn and back gardens. This lovely, large room has a fireplace and spacious en suite bath equipped with a jetted clawfoot tub for your enjoyment. The queen-sized four poster bed, writing desk, dresser, arm chairs and roomy "his and hers" closets make this room an ideal choice for any visit.

The Noyes Room is a beautiful front room overlooking gardens and the barn. A private bath with tub/shower combination is immediately adjacent. This room can be made up with either king-sized bed or two twin beds. A rocking chair, a writing desk/dresser and a large closet complete the furnishings. The Noyes family owned this house from 1779 until 1936. This room is pet-friendly and one pet is allowed for an additional charge of $25/visit.

The Russell Suite was used as a dance hall when Colonel Russell ran his tavern here in the middle of the 18th century. This two-room suite faces west with a view of the Road Meeting House and the setting sun. Furnished with a queen-sized four poster bed, writing desk, dresser and large closet, a day bed in the sitting room accommodates a child. The Russell Suite has a fireplace and an en suite bath with jetted clawfoot tub.

Our breakfast is an event not to be missed. Guests delight in New England favorites such as Boston muffins, doughnut muffins, fresh eggs from our own hens, apple stuffed pancakes, a choice of quality breakfast meats, seasonal fruit dishes and homemade preserves and sorbets. The five courses ensure that no one leaves the table wanting for anything.

Children over 8 years old are welcome. One child can be accommodated in the Russell Suite in addition to the usual two adults or children may stay in their own room if they are old enough to do so. Smoking is allowed on the covered porch and on the grounds. No smoking is allowed inside the inn. The inn has a small calico cat named Hobo in residence.
