The Andrews Homestead is a living window into Meriden’s past, inviting visitors to explore a historic home that traces the community’s story from pre-European Indigenous life through the transformations of the 20th century. Through its featured tour, “Wampum to War Bonds,” the site connects early Native American life and colonial settlement with Meriden’s industrial growth and its contributions during times of national conflict, including the world wars. Carefully preserved rooms, artifacts, and narratives bring to life the everyday experiences of those who lived and worked in the area, offering a continuous thread of history that shows how a small Connecticut town evolved alongside the nation itself.   The tour is at 11:30 and 1:00 on the third Saturday from May through November.

The main building, the Meriden Museum & History Center,  located at 41 W Main Street in downtown Meriden, is a vibrant center for preserving and sharing the history of Meriden. The facility features three galleries—the Grand Gallery, East Gallery, and West Gallery—offering both permanent and rotating exhibits that explore the city’s industrial and cultural heritage. The center hosts monthly public lectures as part of its ongoing educational series, presents a variety of community events, tours, and special programs throughout the year, and provides access to extensive archives and a research library that support local history, genealogy, and scholarly research. Together, these resources make the Museum & History Center an important destination for residents, students, researchers, and visitors interested in the rich history of Meriden and the surrounding region.  See our website at www.meridenhistoricalsociety.org for hours and directions.
