Farmington Canal Linear Park

The Farmington Canal State Park Trail in Cheshire and Hamden forms a portion of the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail which traverses Connecticut, north to south, from Suffield to New Haven. The State Park Trail follows the path of the Farmington Canal which served the area from 1828 to 1847. Today walkers, bicyclists, strollers, inline skaters, joggers and others make use of this scenic and historic byway. Guilford Walking Tours

Explore 375 years of Guilford history on a guided walking tour led by volunteers. History of the Town Green and many of the surrounding homes and businesses, most of which are on the National Register of Historic Places, is provided. Learn about the local Native Americans, New England slavery, how Guilford is connected to the saving of the Connecticut Charter (1687), the Salem Witch Trials (1692), and the Statue of Liberty. Other entertaining historical stories are added, making this tour sure to please visitors of all ages. Tours are weather permitting.

Guilford Town Marina

Located at the end of Whitfield Street, at the mouth of the East River, is the Guilford Town Marina. Certified as one of the first Connecticut Clean Marinas it has 122 slips and 14 river moorings. The marina offers convenient access to Long Island Sound. There are scenic views of Grass Island, Faulkner’s Island, and the East River marsh. A paved launch ramp with good water depth at any tide is located in the ENE corner of the parking lot. A fee applies to all launches. Transient boat slips are very limited. Boaters should call ahead to check availability.
