The Boroughs Brewing Company

Born, Raised and Brewed in the Quiet Corner! And we are dog friendly! We admire the fact that we're able to brew beer for you all, and even more, we love being able to share our favorite styles that you don't find at every brewery. You'll find that we love to experiment with our sours and IPA's, but we also love brewing some of the "less appreciated" beers that aren't the easiest to find. We hope you'll join us in celebrating this diverse world of beer. Cheers!

Yiayia's Greek Kitchen

YiaYia’s owners Yanni and Kaitlyn Gogo met several years ago in Astoria, New York while working together at an upscale event space. Not too long after they fell in love, married, had a child, and relocated to Torrington, Connecticut. Yanni worked for a few years as a General Manager in a popular eatery nearby. They then acquired the summer contract to operate the Lakeridge Café, and had several successful seasons. They built up a name and reputation in the area for serving fresh, high quality food. Finally they realized there was nothing left to do but open their own small restaurant, perhaps

Oliva On Main

"Herbs are the soul of everything..." Chef Aamar's parents didn't expect a chef when they sent their son to Italy to study architecture in Florence. His passion for Italian food began when he took a job in a restaurant to make some money during summer vacations. As time went on his interest in cooking grew. He came to the U.S. in 1984 first working in Kentucky, California and then New York. In 1989 he met Adam Reiss who had just opened Doc's in New Preston and left Orso to cook there. Cooking to rave reviews for 6 and 1/2 years, Aamar left in 1995 and opened Oliva in the spring of 1997. Oliva

The Edward

In July of 2016, Tracey and Brian purchased a weekend home in Sharon, Connecticut. Eight months later, Brian saw an ad for a commercial space. Having dreamt of opening a wine bar in Manhattan and realizing how cost-prohibitive that was, he mulled over turning a doctor’s office into a local wine bar in a town that didn’t have many choices in entertainment. The Porchlight was born and opened in September of 2017. But a much more well-known hospitality group already had that name. So by 2018, The Porchlight became a wine and cocktail bar called The Edward, Tracey’s father and grandfather’s name

Blackberry River Bistro

Opened in the summer of 2018, the bistro was established to provide delicious, from-scratch, nothin' fancy, just delicious food and excellent beer to Canaan and the surrounding towns. Living right in the center of town, Sam and Audrey had long wished there was a good takeout spot nearby, even better if it served up a good drink to go along with it. When the space became available they jumped at the chance to open a little dinner place to try to provide something they'd been craving in town. With the sudden strike of the pandemic in March, the bakery and bistro were both forced to close, but
