For 25 years, the New England Science & Sailing Foundation (NESS) has inspired confidence, curiosity, and connection through ocean-based experiential learning. Guided by our core values of Experiential Learning, InclusiveNESS, Personal Growth, and Stewardship, every NESS program is intentionally designed to create meaningful experiences that help participants build skills, discover confidence, and develop a lifelong connection to the water and the natural world.

Located on the shores of Fisher's Island Sound in Stonington, Connecticut, NESS has welcomed nearly 50,000 students, families, and visitors through hands-on experiences that combine marine science, sailing, adventure sports, and environmental stewardship.

SCHOOL & GROUP PROGRAMS
NESS has partnered with more than 117 schools and community organizations throughout New England to provide engaging, standards-aligned educational experiences on and off the water. Students explore marine ecosystems, environmental science, sailing, engineering, and teamwork through immersive, hands-on programs designed to build confidence, critical thinking, and a lifelong connection to the ocean. Custom Field Expeditions, Classroom & Travel Experiences, and Mobile Classroom Opportunities are available year-round.

YOUTH PROGRAMS
From preschool through teens, NESS offers unforgettable youth experiences throughout the year. Summer Camps feature sailing, marine science, kayaking, paddleboarding, surfing, fishing, nature exploration, and adventure sports, while school vacation day programs, after-school programs, and youth sailing provide opportunities to learn, grow, and explore in every season. Every program is designed to foster curiosity, resilience, independence, and environmental stewardship.

ADULT & FAMILY PROGRAMS

From first-time paddlers to lifelong sailors, curious students to adventurous families, NESS creates meaningful experiences where the ocean becomes a classroom, a playground, and a place for personal growth.
