Anne and Louis Barth first opened the doors of Harvest Bakery on Memorial Day in 1941.
The bakery was located at 562 North Main Street in Bristol, but it was relocated to its present Farmington Avenue address in 1948.
In 1949, the Barth’s daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Payson Hurwitz, joined the bakery business and in 1979 Marty and Jackie Hurwitz, their son & daughter-in-law, took over the business. After serving the community for over 45 years Marty and Jackie took a well-deserved retirement but the traditions and reputation that have made Harvest Bakery the best bakery in town remain strong.
