More than quality of life, the Arts are a way of life in Greater New Haven

Visitors enjoy arts and culture on a grand scale in Greater New Haven.  Works by Constable, Monet, Warhol and other legendary artists on display are just the tip of the paint brush.   Prefer your art al fresco?  Stroll the Madison Sculpture Mile or download the walking art tour maps of New Haven and Yale University.  Don’t miss Hillhouse Avenue lauded by both Charles Dickens and Mark Twain as “the most beautiful street in America“.

There is more to our art scene than the celebrated artists of yesteryear.  Local galleries showcase the painting, pottery, sculpture and jewelry created by homegrown artists.  The Yale Rep, the Shubert and Long Wharf Theatre produce award winning plays featuring current stars as well as up and coming actors.  The music scene includes landmark pieces from the Yale School of Music, jazz at Firehouse 12, the newly opened College Street Music Hall and the latest red-hot bands at Café Nine

The options may seem daunting but the Arts Council of Greater of New Haven comes to the rescue with an app to assist travelers.  ANDI provides on-the-go listings for arts, nightlife, dining and other information for both the iPhone and Android.   So, from newhavenarts.org and start your cultural journey.
