Halloween Fun for 2024

Halloween is around the corner and this year Connecticut is filled with tricks, treats, and spooky celebrations.  From zombie fashion shows, pumpkin festivals and scarecrow contests to ghost tours, haunted hayrides and beyond, there are plenty of fantastic frights to go around. To make sure you make the most of the season, we’ve broken down all the happenings from kid-friendly events to truly scary experiences. Happy hauntings!

Zombie Fashion Show, Putnam

October 4

The spectacle begins with zombies of all ages, as they stroll down the putrid runway for prizes.

Great Pumpkin Festival, Putnam

October 19

With an array of family-friendly activities, this event features The Official Great Pumpkin, 14th Annual Scarecrow Contest, craft and art vendors, fantastic live music, activities for the kids, special pumpkin themed menus and more.

Scarecrows Along Main Street, Old Wethersfield

October 1 – 31

Stroll through downtown Old Wethersfield and admire unique scarecrows lined throughout the street. Discover different themes, photo-ops, and a classic Halloween small town atmosphere.

Pumpkin Patch at the Shoreline Trolley Museum, East Haven

Weekends in October

Take a ride to the Pumpkin Patch! Kids can pick their own sugar pumpkin at the outdoor patch.  Take a self-guided tour of our decorated trolley barns

Halloween at The Connecticut Renaissance Faire, Lebanon

October 5

Don your favorite costume and revel in Halloween fun.  See jousting knights, armored combat, circus-style entertainment, and more.  Shop in New England's largest Medieval Marketplace with thousands of gift treasures.  Feast on turkey legs and local craft brews.  Adults only and costume required !

Town of Prospect Pumpkin Festival

October 12

Enjoy a family friendly festival celebrating its 21st year with vendors, contests, entertainment, food, and games, along with hay bale races with prizes and more.

Pumpkin Passage, Oakdale

October 4 - October 27

Raptor Bay Trail has been taken over by goblins, witches, and mythical creatures, but don’t worry — we’ve made sure this event is fun for all ages. Instead of frights we chose lights. Six different spooky experiences await you on almost a half-mile of trail every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night that are sure to dazzle and delight.

Halloween Glow in the Park at The Adventure Park - Storrs & Bridgeport

October 7 - 28
What could be more spooktacular than an adventure in the trees?  Enjoy the Halloween Glow in the Park, a fa-boo-lous time for all with family-friendly Halloween themed music, decorations and more.  Events are all ages for family friendly Halloween fun.  There are Halloween Glow events in both the Storrs and Bridgeport parks.
 
Glow in the Park is a nighttime event where our outdoor adventure park literally glows!  Brightly-shining lights illuminate your way while you zipline, work the ropes and traverse through the treetops. And you have toe-tapping music to keep your adrenaline flowing.   
 

What Lurks Beneath: A Halloween Experience at Mystic Seaport

October 18, 19, 24, 25 & 26
Do you believe in sea monsters ? This Halloween, discover “what lurks beneath” at Mystic Seaport Museum. Explore the indoor and outdoor spaces at the mysteries of the ocean come out to play. From giant puppets to incredible Kraken tentacles climbing the rigging of the whale ship Charles W Morgan, this limited time event includes creepy Halloween fun for all. Families and children of all ages can enjoy a fanciful spooky walking tour complete with ghostly apparition, swimming sailors and joyful spirits. Create a sea monster or mermaid craft and engage their imagination at the children’s mini-ship playscape !
 

Trail of Terror, Wallingford

September 28 – November 2

Hiding in the woods at the end of a lonesome road is a world of fright and fantasy that will test one's mettle, temper one's cavalier courage, torment one's sanity, and taint one's soul. This unique vortex of dark entertainment with its outrageous volunteer staff is the Trail of Terror.

Phantom Fall Fest at Lake Compounce, Bristol

Weekends Sep 21 - Oct 27

Come early for family-friendly fun, including trick-or-treating through Kiddie Land, yummy fall treats, and all of your favorite coasters and rides during the day. Then fright all night with even more horror around every corner. Hang on to your friends through more fog, more freaks, more FX- like the all-new Malignant: Overgrown Evil and the return of mALICE in Wonderland 3D. Plus, escape the new Roaming Horde of Horrors as you make your way around the park. This year, the scare is everywhere.

Nightmare on Main: Unsettling Tales - Legend, Myth, Folklore

Fri & Sat, October 4 - 19

The 10th annual Nightmare on Main presents creepy, haunting stories mostly based on history. This year 'Unsettling Tales" will present scenes based on legends, myths and folklore that is mostly inspired by true stories. Take a dark journey from the curses of Ancient Egypt to the graveyards of eastern Connecticut.

Legends of Fear Haunted Hayride at Fairview Tree Farm, Shelton

Friday - Sunday, September 28th - November 2nd

We gather once again in our playground of fear to hear you Scream !!  Board a tractor-pulled hay wagon into fields and forests of fear for thirty minutes of spine-chilling fun. This year, our Haunted Farm will be even more terrorizing with many new gruesome and horrifying additions. The forgotten souls released from their graves yearn to taunt the living, and will delight in your distress!  

The Dark Manor House, Baltic

Thurs - Sun, September 28th - November 2nd

The Manor is home to the ghastly entities that haunt its hallowed grounds. Many are driven mad by the terror lurking in every shadow; their desperate screams echoing endlessly down the twisting trail. Can you escape the darkness and terror of The Graveyard?  Plunge into the shadows of the mausoleums while you are surrounded by undead creeps and chainsaw freaks, remorseless in their torment of anyone unfortunate enough to wander into their cold grasp. 

Curse of the Rails at the Connecticut Trolley Museum, East Windsor

Friday + Saturday, October 4th - 26th

Step aboard the "Curse of the Rails," where haunting echoes of the past and horrifying tales await you on an unforgettable haunted trolley ride! You'll journey through haunted landscapes and come face to face with entities that roamed these very rails. With each twist and turn, you'll encounter ghostly apparitions and blood-curdling legends that will leave you questioning what's real and what's supernatural.

Friday - Sunday, September 29 - November 3

Are you brave enough to enter the woods and face all your worst fears? An all-new interactive haunted attraction is waiting for you. Be prepared, you will be asked to participate in the scares !
