Celebrate Connecticut Open House Day in Windham County 2024

It's the 20th anniversary of Connecticut Open House Day! That's twenty years of celebrating the unique array of attractions that make the state so special. Check out what Windham County has to offer. 

Art and Garden Tour of Northeastern CT, Ashford, Coventry, Mansfield, Willington

The annual Art and Garden Tour is a free, self-guided tour of 10 enchanting gardens created by artists in the beautiful northeastern corner of CT. The Tour showcases  the art of 19 professional artists. Come enjoy!

Brooklyn Meeting House of 1771, Brooklyn

The Old Brooklyn Meeting House of 1771 will be participating in the 20th annual Connecticut Open House Day "a state-wide celebration of art, history, and tourism" Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 11:00AM to 3:00PM. The Unitarian Universalist Society has restored it in memory of Gen. Israel Putnam. It is also known for the social activism of its 19th-century ministers Samuel J. May and Celia Burleigh. Help celebrate its 252-year history at 7 Canterbury Road on the Brooklyn Green. Free admission. Parking in vicinity.

Finnish American Heritage Society and Museum, Canterbury

Tour our museum, historic Finnish hall and sauna. Admission is free for all! Listen to musical selections by Kasha Breau on kantele and Bob Breau on flute. Enjoy a weaving demonstration by participants in the Southern New England Apprenticeship Program. Meet photographer Allan Seppa and view his photography exhibit of Finland and Estonia. Light refreshments will be available throughout the day.

The Mill Museum (Windham Textile & History Museum), Windham

Free admission. Children's history museum activity.

Program: "The Mill Museum's Hidden Spaces: Secret Tunnels and Victorian Vaults." Visitors will be able to peer into spaces in the Museum not normally open to the public. Throughout the day. 

Prudence Crandall Museum, Canterbury

The Prudence Crandall Museum will be open for FREE open-house style. Visitors can view the new exhibit, "Canterbury Female Boarding School: Courage, Conscience, and Continance" at their own pace, and engage in informal conversation with staff. On the grounds visitors can enjoy the Peace Garden and picnic tables.

Willow Tree Pottery, Ashford

Wander the country gardens of Willow Tree Pottery. Visit Suzy Staubach's studio where she makes functional pottery for the kitchen and garden. Guest artists are Barbara Katz( sculptural ceramics) and  Gretchen Geromin and Lauren Merlo (handmade cheese boards with original wood burned art).
