A place to rest, re-set, and reconnect, the Manor House Inn epitomizes a bygone era of timeless beauty and old-world charm. Warm and welcoming, elegant and understated, the spaces are curated to inspire moments of connection, reflection, and celebration.
The Norman Tudor architecture, English gardens, expansive lawns, and nearby woodlands harken back to simpler times and quieter spaces where visitors can catch glimpses of the neighborhood foxes, fawns, and birds.
Digital detox is entirely encouraged. Books, board games, and lawn games abound. We are an adult-oriented, nonsmoking property.
Good food, good conversation, and meaningful moments are inevitable. Reading nooks, Tiffany stained glass, Adirondack chairs, and fire pits lend themselves to moments of calm and serenity. Guests are welcome to explore expansive grounds with private picnicking spots. Beautiful downtown Norfolk, with the utterly enchanting Norfolk Library, Norfolk Hub, and the City Meadow, is located just a few steps away where visitors enjoy a welcoming space and breathtaking views of the mountains at sunset.
The inn is also just a short walk to hundreds of acres of protected forest paths and scenic hiking. At night, stargazers can enjoy some of the darkest night skies in Connecticut. Bird-lovers can savor an abundance of sightings. In the summer months, the Yale Summer School of Music offers concerts, and local musicians play on the town green. The Norfolk Foundation offers robust programming year-round including the Haystack Book Festival.
The Manor House Inn is an eco-conscious property and a member of the Conscious Business Collaborative; committed to taking care of people and the planet we all share. The Norfolk Town Hall just up the street offers EV charging stations.
We delight in hosting vacationers and also those coming for both working retreats. We offer exclusive property use for corporate boards, think tanks, and private collaborations. We also partner with local hobbyists to offer unique travel experiences including farm-to-table cooking classes, yoga and meditation, soap and bath-bomb classes, nature photography walks, and more.
