Satan’s Kingdom State Recreation Area
Slide 2.5 miles down the wild and scenic Farmington River atop a green or yellow inner tube at Satan’s Kingdom State Recreation Area in New Hartford. The waterway is calm in some sections, feisty in others, and includes three sets of rapids. The outfitter, Farmington River Tubing, requires riders be age 10 and up, at least four-foot five-inches tall, and able to swim.
Lake Compounce Amusement and Water Park, Bristol
Lake Compounce
Visit Lake Compounce, America’s first family theme park. Established as a “picnic park” in 1846, the venue now includes top rides (such as Boulder Dash, a wooden coaster with a 115-foot drop) and a water park. Families can chill out in Clipper Cove (with a 300-gallon tipping water bucket), Mammoth Falls (family rafting), Lights Out (ride a high speed slide in the dark), Lake Plunge (a slippery tube slide) and a wave pool with a pirate ship.
Cool off during a matinee at AMC Loews Plainville. End your Getaway with ice cream from a local favorite, Praline’s of Plainville.
