A day trip to downtown Greenwich can have the benefit of making you feel like you’ve been to another world. Here’s a simple play in four acts, with Greenwich as the star and you and your girlfriends as a willing audience.
Get dolled up and head to Greenwich Avenue, the East Coast equivalent of Beverly Hills’ Rodeo Drive. The Avenue’s dozens of stores and specialty shops include Tiffany, Saks, Richards, Baccarat, Lululemon and Lily Pulitzer.
After you’re done browsing and shopping, drop into the nearby Hotel Delamar Greenwich Harbor. Whether you have lunch first and then hit the spa, or the other way around, you’ll find both needs carefully attended to here. The restaurant, L’Escale, is widely celebrated for its ambiance, food and cocktails. The Spa at Delamar offers what it calls “the transformative Biologique Recherche Facials.”
Still have more to say to each other? Before heading home, soothe your souls with a visit to Bartlett Arboretum and Gardens in nearby Stamford. The 91-acre respite features 15 acres of lawns and formal gardens, 10 hiking trails, a seven-acre Red Maple Wetland with a boardwalk, a pond and a 3-acre wildflower meadow. On any afternoon, it’s the perfect place for a walk and wrap-up.
