Women in Islam
As part of our Women’s History Month and America 250 programming, we will learn about key female figures in Islam, as well as various roles that Muslim women have and how they are represented in the Qur'an. Foundational figures such as Eve, Mary, Aasiya, and Moses's mother will be discussed, as well as important women warriors, scholars, leaders, and entrepreneurs. There will also be a focus on Muslim women in America.
Our presenter is Muslim Coalition of CT board member Aida Mansoor. Aida holds a BS in Biochemistry/Physiology, a Master's in Community Health, and a Master's in Religious Studies with a focus on Christian-Muslim Relations. She received her Islamic Chaplaincy Certificate in 2012. Aida serves as the Director of Field Education at the Hartford International University for Religion and Peace, and has been awarded the Human Relations Award from the National Conference for Community and Justice.
