URSA Gallery Presents La Belle Époque
This spring, URSA Gallery transports visitors to an era of opulence and artistic flourishing with La Belle Époque, an exhibition set against the vibrant bloom of Colorblends House & Spring Garden. Steeped in the grandeur of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, La Belle Époque reimagines the era’s aesthetic splendor in a modern context, drawing a line between the golden age of cultural prosperity and today’s ever-evolving creative landscape.
Indulgent, messy, and filled with contradictions, the Belle Époque period wasn’t perfect. But through it all, artists and innovators created things worth remembering—gilded theaters, sweeping paintings, and intricate designs that still inspire us today. URSA’s exhibition channels that spirit, bridging the gap between then and now. Set against the lush gardens and historic architecture of Colorblends House & Spring Garden, La Belle Époque envelops visitors in a dreamscape of past and present, offering an experience that is both immersive and reflective. It’s not about longing for the past, but about recognizing what has always mattered: the impulse to make something beautiful, to share in something bigger than ourselves––to stop, even for a moment, and take it all in.
The Artist’s Reception will take place on April 19th, from 3–6pm, offering guests a chance to meet the artists and experience the Colorblends tulips in full bloom. La Belle Époque features works by Aisha Nailah, Amy Hill, Brian Walters, Carlos B. Biernnay, Christopher Jones, Dan Makara, David Gesualdi, Dianne Hebbert, Design With Dice, Emily Teall, Frank Foster Post, George Perham, Herm Freeman, Jane Lubin, Jim Johnson, Jodiann Strmiska, Looketha, Michael J. Clocks, Monique Evette, Scarletchild, Shelby K. Smith, Tara Blackwell, Thalia Hernandez, and Yolanda Petrocelli, each contributing a unique perspective on the interplay between historical elegance and modern expression. With a nod to the past and a vision for the future, this exhibition invites visitors to step into a world where beauty knows no era—only reinvention.
