SWCA Features Pianist Wynona Wang
SWCA is pleased to announce that pianist Wynona Wang will perform on their concert series on February 22nd. Ms. Wang has captured the attention of audiences around the world with a string of impressive competition successes, including winning the Bronze Medal at the 2024 Gina Bachauer International Artists Piano Competition, first prize at the 2018 Concert Artists Guild International Competition and 2017 Wideman International Piano Competition in Louisiana, and as a finalist and multi-prize winner in the 2023 Sydney Piano Competition.
Ms. Wang has performed with top symphonies and in such major venues as the Sydney Opera House, Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall, Carnegie Hall’s Weill Hall, the Metropolitan Museum’s Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium, the Merkin Concert Hall in New York City, Abravanel Hall, the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, the Dallas Winspear Opera House, and the Conrad in La Jolla. In recent seasons, Ms. Wang has been presented by the New York Philharmonic’s Artist Spotlight Series, Shriver Hall’s Discovery series, and at Tippet Rise Art Center. She was invited to perform at festivals including Music@Menlo, La Jolla SummerFest, Mostly Mozart Festival, Bard Music Festival, International Keyboard Institute and Festival, the Lieven Foundation, and the Chautauqua Institution.
The program will include Haydn’s “Sonata in E minor, Hob.XVI: 34 (1778)”; Janáček’s “Sonata 1. X. 1905 “From the Street” (1905)”; Erwin Schulhoff’s “Piano Sonata No. 1 (1924)”; Zhang Zhao’s “Kangding Love Song (2007)” and “Pi Huang (2005)”; and Schumann’s “Piano Sonata No. 1 in F-sharp minor, Op. 11 (1833-35)”.
The concert starts at 2:00 pm at Evergreen Crossings Retirement Community, 900 Hemlock Ave, South Windsor, CT. The concert is FREE and donations are welcomed. Seating begins at 1:30 and is on a first-come, first-served basis. A reception with the artist will follow the concert hosted by Evergreen Crossings Retirement Community.
