Summer Concerts on the Square
Enjoy free, live music in Downtown Storrs, all summer long! The Mansfield Downtown Partnership will host free concerts on Betsy Paterson Square every Thursday in June, July and August. The concerts place from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM and are free and open to all ages to attend.
Thursday, August 27: Funky Dawgz
The Funky Dawgz are one of the premier touring acts on the live music scene today. It is impossible not to enjoy yourself during a show as they play a contagious upbeat mix of original music, hip hop, and funk with a brass twist.
Emerging from Connecticut, they have toured internationally and have been featured in all corners of the live music scene. From playing sold out shows at Madison Square Garden as the horn section for Dispatch, to Okeechobee, to closing out The Peach Music Festival, their performances flow seamlessly from EDM festivals to jam band festivals. They were also recently featured multiple times on national televised programming on ESPN (house band for March Madness Tournament Challenge, opening segment of First Take) as well as on the Hulu and FX hit series Fargo starring Chris Rock.
The Funky Dawgz are Colin Walters (alto saxophone), Tommy Weeks (tenor saxophone), Jon Singngam (percussion), Aaron Eaddy (trumpet, lead vocals), Mike Marsters (trombone, sousaphone), and Chris “Chewy” Chhoeun (trumpet, vocals).
Plan your visit
- Limited seating is available on Betsy Paterson Square. You are welcome to bring your lawn chairs and/or blankets.
- Enjoy dinner at your favorite Downtown Storrs restaurant before the concert, or bring your take out to the Square (no alcohol, please).
- Parking is available in the Downtown Storrs Parking Garage, which is free for your first 2 hours and just $1/hour thereafter. The garage is about a 3-minute walk from Betsy Paterson Square.
