Social Justice Book Club: Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You - Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi
NOTE: New meeting time! We will begin our hybrid meeting at 5:30 PM. You have a choice to attend on Zoom or at Prosser in the Upper Level Conference Room.
This month we will read Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi. Books will be available at Prosser and McMahon Wintonbury or on the Palace Project app.
This adaptation of Stamped from the Beginning by Ibram X. Kendi explores the legacy of racism throughout the entire history of the United States of America. The construct of race has always been used to gain and keep power, to create dynamics that separate and silence. Racist ideas are woven into the fabric of this country, and the first step to building an antiracist America is acknowledging America's racist past and present. This book takes you on that journey, showing how racist ideas started and were spread, and how they can be discredited.
