Shirefolk Weekend at The Connecticut Renaissance Faire
A hobbit's love language is food, and Shirefolk Weekend is built around that truth. September 19 and 20, the Faire leans into the halfling way of life: good meals, easy conversation, a frothy mug, and a marketplace full of handcrafted goods and curious finds that would delight any traveler or wizard passing through.
Saturday is the Hobbit Costume and Talent Contest. Sing a tune, recite a poem, tell a cozy tale, or offer birthday wishes to Bilbo and Frodo in proper Shire fashion. Judges are looking for charm, heart, and the quiet bravery that tends to show up in simple clothes and muddy feet. One winner takes the title of Most Unexpected Hero.
Also Saturday: the Faire is attempting to set the Guinness World Record for the Most Hobbits in One Place. Every hobbit counts. Sign up for the email list at ctfaire.com to get details on attire requirements and how the official count works.
Sunday is the Wizard Costume Contest. Tall hats, flowing robes, well-worn staves, and the confidence of someone who knows more than they are willing to explain. Cryptic riddles and unsolicited wisdom are encouraged.
Come in your coziest waistcoat and pointy hat, or come as you are. Shoes required. Barefoot spirit strongly encouraged.
