Schwarzman Session - Game Changers: Breaking the Rules in Opera
Schwarzman Sessions are peer-led gatherings where conversations generate collaborations and move ideas into action. Because seats are limited, registrants will be automatically placed on the waitlist and will be notified via email if they are selected to participate.
In conjunction with the presentation of their innovative opera, The Comet / Poppea, join Director Yuval Sharon and Composer George Lewis for a discussion centered on bravery, vision, critique, and justification for the radical potential of the centuries-old art form of opera.
Lunch provided.
Despite the common refrain that opera is a dying art form, some of the most innovative and radical moments in live performance are currently taking place within the medium. As director Yuval Sharon explains, “The Comet / Poppea explores exclusion in classical music by creating an uneasy tessellation between the Baroque and the contemporary, and by enacting the experience of double consciousness."
Participants who wish to attend The Comet / Poppea should register separately.
