River Tales: Summer Days and Nights
Swing by the Connecticut River Museum for take-home craft activities that engage kids with the Connecticut River’s stunning wildlife and rich history. Crafts will take place in the Museum’s Boathouse. A program designed for kids 4 and older and their caregivers, River Tales features a story and craft activity centered on nature.
On a hot summer day, a little girl finds ways to entertain herself and explore the natural world around her. She catches a butterfly, sips lemonade, jumps in a pool, and goes on a picnic. At night, she sees an owl in a tree and a frog in a pond, and hears leaves rustling.
In July, we’ll read Summer Days and Nights by Wong Herbert Yee, a picture book with a spunky protagonist who grows to appreciate the small but special details that define a season.
