

Ragtime Tea Dance
Step back in time and learn popular Ragtime dances with social dance teacher/historian, Susan de Guardiola, at the Ragtime Tea Dance on Sunday, June 1, 2025 at 2pm at the Weston History & Culture Center, 104 Weston Road in Weston, CT. No experience needed and no partner required; dancing with different people is part of the fun.

Enjoy an afternoon of lighthearted dancing in the style of the 1910s with a mix of easy couple dances and traditional New England contras. Kick up your heels with the simple one-step, the romantic tango, and the lively foxtrot in the pre-Dancesport style as well as group dances that remained common in this area of the country! Recorded music will be used. No experience needed - all dances will be taught by social dance historian and teacher Susan de Guardiola. Laughter is encouraged! Also enjoy light refreshments fit for a 1910s tea! Early 20th century attire encouraged, but not required.
About Susan de Guardiola: Susan de Guardiola is a dance historian, teacher, and caller. Based in New Haven, CT, she teaches, leads balls and other dance events, and serves as resident instructor for The Elegant Arts Society. Susan also teaches cross-step waltz and conducts gender-role-free dance workshops. She has also been known to admit to a taste for Disco line dances. She is a popular dance leader at major New England dance festivals and dance weeks. She has taught historical social dance of various eras in New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Colorado, Virginia, Louisiana, Ontario, and more. She also has taught in St. Petersburg, Russia.
