Pratt Street Swing Night

Connecticut Swings is bringing the energy of social dancing to downtown Hartford with Pratt Street Swing Night, a free outdoor evening celebrating the many styles of swing dance on Saturday, August 8, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Pratt Street.

Designed to welcome both experienced dancers and complete beginners, Pratt Street Swing Night will feature music for a variety of swing dance styles throughout the evening, including West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, East Coast Swing, Balboa, and Shag. No partner or prior dance experience is required.

Rather than focusing on a single style, the event encourages dancers from different swing communities to come together on one dance floor, creating an opportunity to share music, movement, and community.

"We wanted to create a night where every swing dancer feels at home," said Angelina Capalbo, founder of Connecticut Swings. "Whether you've been dancing for years or you've never taken your first lesson, everyone is welcome to experience the joy of swing dancing in the heart of Hartford."

Connecticut Swings is also inviting professional instructors and dance organizations representing the various swing dance styles to participate in the evening and help showcase the diversity of swing dancing throughout Connecticut and the Northeast.

Pratt Street Swing Night is free to attend thanks to community support. Guests are encouraged to RSVP in advance, though walk-ups are welcome.
