book tickets now learn more

Navigate the vibrant late-summer waters of the Coginchaug and Mattabesset rivers on a beginner-friendly tour of the freshwater tidal marsh. We will paddle through towering stands of wild rice that create a seasonal feast for local birds, while admiring the brilliant crimson spikes of cardinal flowers blooming along the muddy banks. Between the vivid floral displays and the many painted turtles sunning themselves on the river’s edge, this trip offers a spectacular look at the marsh's peak biodiversity.

All equipment included: 12 foot Wilderness Pungo kayak, paddle, life jacket, dry bag, cell phone pouch, and custom, site-specific field guide.

Beginner friendly: must have basic mobility and strength to get out of a sit-inside kayak and gently paddle in a slight current.
