In 1920, the United States prohibited the production, importation, transportation, and sale of alcoholic beverages. Connecticut did not support the Constitutional Amendment creating Prohibition, and violations of the law were widespread. Join historian and storyteller Mike Allen to learn more about this rebellious chapter in the state’s history and the role the Connecticut River played in bootlegging.
Mike Allen has lived in Connecticut for more than 50 years and specializes in bringing history to life. He is the producer and host of the podcast, Amazing Tales About History, featuring weekly stories about interesting people, places, and events. Mike’s career began as a radio news director. He became the Press Secretary to the Mayor of Danbury and later spent 25 years in an international corporate position, specializing in communications and marketing.
