Windsor Historical Society Hosts Homeschool Program on Early American Childhood
Students invited to experience daily life in 1810 Windsor, CT, through the eyes of nine-year-old Annie Howard

On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, Windsor Historical Society will host a special homeschool program in Windsor, CT, giving students the chance to experience what life was like for children 200 years ago. The program, inspired by the story of nine-year-old Annie Howard, offers an immersive, hands-on journey into life in 1810 Windsor.

Designed for homeschool families, the two-hour program will feature interactive activities that bring local history to life. Students will explore the historic Howard home and discover what daily life was like for 9-year-old Annie and her family, learn about early economics and community life through Grandpa Howard’s general store, and practice writing with a quill pen and send a letter through Windsor’s early post office.

The program is open to homeschool groups, individual families, and children eager to learn history in an interactive way. It is designed for children ages 7-10. Tickets are $5 per student. Advanced registration is required. There are two sessions, one at 10 a.m.–12 p.m. and a second at 1–3 p.m. For tickets or more information, visit www.WindsorHistoricalSociety.org or email [email protected].
