The Joseph Carpenter Silversmith Shop Opens on Market Day
Hear ye, Hear ye....May 2, 11-3pm, the Joseph Carpenter Silversmith Shop Opens and Market Day on the Norwichtown Green. In the Silversmith Shop speak with Joseph Carpenter-silversmith and clockmaker about his work and life on the Green, see a wooden clockwork demonstration by Eli Terry, $5. Enjoy strolling on the Green where you will experience Market Day when the Green was the social and commercial center of Norwich with crafts, militia drilling and traveling merchants. Have a cup of Pewter Pot Fine Chocolate, watch as Scott the Blacksmith/bladesmith shows off his skills. Learn about a soldiers life with the 6th CT Regiment and Sheldon’s Horse Dragoons, see the artillery of Browns Company of Artillery. Discover Native American history with Jon the Native Trader. Big Bear Trading Company will be on site as well. Appreciate a display of Naval artifacts with the US Naval Landing Party.
At 10am, begin the day with a Jane’s Walk around the Revolutionary Green with Trish Staley, learn about the people who contributed to our Revolutionary history. Gather at 71 East Town Street, the Silversmith Shop.
