Japan Society of Fairfield County Aki Matsuri (Fall Festival)
The Japan Society of Fairfield County welcomes everyone to its annual fall festival!
This family-friendly event begins at 1:00 with a welcome from the Japanese Consulate in NYC and includes an afternoon of taiko drumming, Japanese folktale dramatization, martial arts, ikebana flower arranging, calligraphy, J-pop dance, traditional Obon dancing, and Japanese games and activities for children and adults.
A Japanese marketplace will feature tenugui (traditional hand-dyed hand towels) by Wuhao NY, ceramics by Namiko Kato and Yoko Hirotagawa, crafts by Obi Obi, kanji books by author Lindsay Jimenez, and new and used Japanese decorations, books, and clothing.
Yukata (summer kimono) and obi (sash) will be available for sale or festival rental.
Packaged Japanese snacks and drinks will be sold.
