Indigenous Storytelling for All Ages
To highlight Native American Heritage Month, BPL is proud to welcome storyteller and author Wunneanatsu Lamb-Cason (Schaghticoke/HoChunk) for a storytelling program for all ages. Wunneanatsu will share Indigenous stories, her recent book Grandmother Moon, and discuss the importance of traditional storytelling as a way of preserving culture and living history.
Wunneanatsu Lamb-Cason is an award-winning educator, traditional storyteller, author, and advocate whose work centers on historical truth-telling, representation, and equity in education. An enrolled citizen of the Schaghticoke Tribal Nation and owner of Eastern Woodlands Education Consultants, LLC, she works to advance culturally responsive teaching practices, with a particular focus on the accurate and inclusive representation of Indigenous histories. A former high school history teacher, she was named the 2024 National History Teacher of the Year by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History—the first Indigenous educator to receive this distinction. She now serves as the Assistant Director of Native American and Indigenous Studies at Brown University.
