Israel Putnam, affectionately known as Old Put, played a pivotal role in our nation’s founding. A charismatic figure of the 18th century, Major General Putnam was a military leader in both the French & Indian War and the American Revolution, yet many of the stories surrounding his life are mythical. Join local historian Robert Ernest Hubbard, author of Major General Israel Putnam: Hero of the American Revolution, as he separates fact from fiction. Discover the defining moments in Putnam’s life, including his leadership of the Continental Army encampment in Redding during the winter of 1779.
