Elwood P. Dowd is a kindhearted gentleman whose closest companion is Harvey, an invisible six-foot-tall rabbit. When Elwood’s socially ambitious sister, Veta, decides that his unusual friendship is standing in the way of the family’s reputation, she attempts to have him committed. Her plan quickly unravels, leading to mistaken identities, romantic complications, and comic chaos.

Warm, witty, and enduringly funny, Harvey asks whether it is better to conform to the world’s expectations or to embrace the people and possibilities that make life extraordinary.
