Harvest to Hearth: Thanksgiving in 1840s Waterford
The Dirty Blue Shirts living historians return to Jordan Park Green historic buildings with a strong focus on the Thanksgiving holiday: What that meant for our mid-19th-century Waterford ancestors: food, family, gratitude for what they had, remembering those who were gone, charity for those who had less.
Perfect for families, for young and old alike.
Features of the day.
- Hearth cooking in the Beebe-Phillips House, roasted chicken and corn bread!
- The antique cider press in action in Stacy Barn; fresh cider offered from a local farm.
- Historic buildings open for folks to learn about what life in Waterford was like "way back then."
- Games on the Jordan Park Green for young and old!
- Charity baskets for those less fortunate.
- Strolls though Stacy Barn, filled with farming equipment from Waterford's agricultural past.
- The popular, bustling blacksmith shop, open for observation and purchases of hand-forged items.
