A Flea In Her Ear

"A Flea In Her Ear," a new version of Georges Feydeau’s farce by David Ives, the greatest French farce and perhaps the greatest farce ever written, opens at Brookfield Theatre Feb. 21, 2025.

Brookfield Theatre presents "A Flea In Her Ear," a new version of Georges Feydeau’s farce by David Ives, directed by Tony & Eric Bosco-Schmidt. It has been named the greatest of French farces and perhaps the greatest farce ever written.

Raymonde Chandebise (Rebecca Annalise) suspects that her husband, Victor (Gus Bottazzi), an insurance executive, is secretly having an affair. To find out, she and her friend Lucienne (Anya Nardone) write him an anonymous love letter suggesting a rendezvous at the Frisky Puss Hotel. Thinking the letter was intended for his coworker, the gigolo Tournel (Liam McGrath), Victor sends Tournel off to make the rendezvous in his place. Lucienne’s jealous Spanish husband (Andrés Indrovo) finds the letter, recognizes his wife’s handwriting, and takes his pistols to the Frisky Puss hoping to catch her in the act. Meanwhile, Victor’s nephew Camille (Colin McLoone) tries to warn everyone about the mix-up, but his ridiculous speech impediment prevents anyone from understanding him. At the Frisky Puss, the drunken bellboy looks just like Victor adding even more confusion. With some people trying to hide, some trying to be found, and others appearing unexpectedly - the hotel staff (Dean Alexander, Michele Rosa, and Arianna Alagna) frantically try to keep order, while the gun wielding jealous husband scares everyone into running back to the Chandebise home where the vortex of confusion spins even faster until finally, Victor and Raymonde are reunited and all is forgiven. The cast also includes Daniel J Mulvihill Jr, Desi Kelley, Vincent D'Ambrosio, Rick Stewart, and Jon Barker.
