The Nativity has been depicted by artists all over the world and is often open to interpretation as to who is included. The inclusion of animals is a common component of artworks depicting the Nativity, ranging from familiar to exotic animals connected to the region of the world where the artist is located.

This Christmas, the Blessed Michael McGivney Pilgrimage Center presents Menagerie at the Manger: The Creatures of Christmas, an in depth look at the variety of animals that appear in crèches, the three-dimensional representation of the birth of Christ, showcasing almost 60 works from nearly 40 countries around the world.
