EveryBody Dances with Eva Conti Alegria
EveryBody Dances @ Yale Schwarzman Center brings local and visiting dance artists to our Dance Studio to teach masterclasses in jazz, hip hop, salsa, modern, contemporary, precision dance and more! All community members are welcome.
This week's class is Intro to Flamenco led by Eva Conti Alegria!
Discover the passion, strength and rhythms of the Spanish art of flamenco. Originally from the Andalusian Province in Southern Spain, flamenco dancing is one of the three integral parts (guitar, voice, dance) of the art of Flamenco. It draws from many cultures and traditions, especially the Moorish, Jewish, African, Indian and Spanish Roma.
In this workshop learn:
- Brazeo y Floreo - arm and hand movements
- Taconeo - foot and heel work
- Marcaje - marking patterns
- Palmas - rhythmic hand clapping
- Postura - body carriage
- And a short Choreography
Clothing options:
- Comfortable athletic clothing
- Long full skirt
- Pants
Footwear options:
- Character shoe
- Sturdy broad heeled shoe
- Half booty
- Athletic shoes are also acceptable
We welcome people ages 15 and under when accompanied by an adult.
