Curator Talk | Global Aesthetics in Sèvres Porcelain

Throughout its history, the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres in France has incorporated cross-cultural references in their ceramic wares to meet the global tastes of the day. Linda Roth, Charles C. and Eleanor Lamont Cunningham Senior Curator of European Decorative Arts, explores international dialogues evident in two important ceramic works made at Sèvres: an early 20th-century stoneware vase influenced by Japanese design, and a recently acquired 19th-century tray depicting the harvest and preparation of cacao in Mexico.
