Discover the stories from people of African descent who are most likely buried in the Ancient Burying Ground, located in the heart of downtown Hartford. Find out about the Black Governor tradition and the Black Sheriff Neptune, whose goodwill extended to those who needed a proper burial. Through research and documentation, the Ancient Burying Ground Association (ABGA) has created an online portal for information on burials of African, African-American, and Native-American people.
